SURFACE WEB
Only 4% of the content on the internet is www or the "Surface Web." Surface web is the portion of the World Wide Web that is readily available to the general public and searchable with standard web search engines. It is the opposite of the deep web. The section of the internet that is being indexed by search engines is known as the "Surface Web".Includes: public websites such as Google, Amazon, Wikipedia, etc.
DEEP WEB
Over 90% of the information on the internet is in the deep web and is not accessible by surface web crawlers. The deep web is just one layer removed from the public web.Not accessible via search engines. Includes: Government Resources, Academic Information, Medical Records, Subscription Information, etc.

Only 6% of the Internet content. The dark web consists of websites that use public internet, but require specific software for access and is not indexed by search engines to ensure anonymity. Encrypted networks that need special software to access. Includes: Stolen and Illegal Information, Illegal Pornography, Drug Trafficking and many other Illegal Sites.
- The Dark Web is estimated to be about 500x larger than the Surface Web (the part you can Google).
- The Dark Web contains at least 7,500 TB of data.
- The Dark Web generates at least $500,000 a day from illegal activities.
