The Computer

 


"Necessity is the mother of invention". This statement states that man's knowledge about materialism is growing day by day. With the march of time his lust for knowledge enables him to think new thoughts and invent wonderful things. The computer is the latest invention of modern science. It is the latest miracle man has ever made. The word 'Computer' is derived from the word "Compute" which means count. Computer states that it is an electronic device for storing and analyzing information fed into it. So it is a machine that can copy, compare, store and perform many other operations. The first computer was made in Pensylvania University, U.S.A. It was called first generation computer. With the march of time second, third and fourth generation computers are made. The languages like BASIC, COBOL FORTAN and ALGORITHMIC are used in computer. It is a magic machine that can make lakhs and lakhs of calculations in a second. Computers are of two types. One is called Digital Computer and the another is called Analog Computer. It has three parts i.e. input, central processing unit and output device. Now-a-days computer is necessary in every field. From railway station to high offices, from private farm to parliament, computer has become a necessary part. Without Computer modern society will come to a halt. With the march of time the necessity of computer is highly needed in the field of commerci firms and different organizations. They prefer to take the help of computer as it does the work accurately. The business world is highly grateful to computer. We now get our telephone bills, electricity bills, tax bills and other bills prepared by computer. India is a vast country. So the role of computer is necessary in different branches of administration. Common people will enjoy the utility of computer in various ways. It is used in railway reservation counter that helps the travellers to get their tickets within no time. Computer is indispensable in other fields like power plant, operation theatre, atomic research, oil and mineral operation, in the field of defence etc. Now in India various offices are supplied with computer to do their works efficiently within a short time. Computer plays a very important role in the field of education. Teachers can teach their students with the help of computer. Students can operate it and gain knowledge by themselves. The improvement of education is possible only through computers. Even it can help the illiterate farmers by informing them the agricultural weather report in advance. As a student I pay my heartfelt gratitude to computer. I sometimes wonder what a great knowledge is there inside a small electronic device that helps us in various fields from weather forecast to medical treatment. I am a student of science. I have an aim to become a computer engineer. If I reach my goal I promise to do something for the welfare of mankind by the help of computer.
